There are so many kinds of friends and every single one of mine bring a little something different to my life. Kate and Chris are the kind of friends that win the “all-around” award – they’re so easy to be around, we laugh constantly with them, they reach in and help us before we ask (and even if we put up resistance), we learn from them and their lives. If I need to call someone for an urgent prayer, Kate always picks up. We’ve wished, hoped, prayed and agonized with Kate and Chris throughout their adoption process, which is not a journey for the faint of heart. Throughout it all, I have marveled at Kate’s willingness to put the best interests of birth mothers, babies, and her marriage above becoming a parent at any cost. When Kate called me to say that they were finally on their way to meet their baby girl, I had to pull over and cry tears of joy for a few minutes. (Incidentally, I was in the school parking lot, where these phone calls seem to happen!)

So much love to Kate, Chris, and Abigail!!!!

I couldn’t get over the number of smiles that showed up in these photographs. Abigail was only 9 days old and SO smiley!!!

Another one of my favorites. In a few years, this special bear from a special friend of Abigail’s, will do a much better job of comforting her! They just need to get to know each other 🙂
