Sarah and James’s wedding was one I will always remember for four reasons.
First, for the band + dancing… just about every guest was on the dance floor all night!!! We usually see little pockets of people that more or less stay together in the same spot every evening. Not at Sarah and James’s wedding!!! The bride’s family danced with the groom’s family… parents danced with their kids… friends and family mixed it up. Most impressively, Sarah and James danced for hours and STILL looked elegant and gorgeous in the very last photos of the evening! How did they pull THAT off??!?
Second, I will remember the volumes of kind, powerful, and poignant words and stories shared by Sarah and James’s friends and family. In these blog posts, I often try to recount one or two impressive things that I learned about the couple from their friends and family. But in this case, there was simply too much said – and too eloquently – for me to crudely paraphrase in this little post.
Third, I will remember Sarah and James as not simply a couple that I like (a lot!) but a couple that I want to BE like. At one point in the afternoon, there was a little hitch in the plans – someone Sarah had counted on wasn’t where she needed them to be. The reaction of many brides, and certainly my own instinctive reaction, would be indignation or anger. But Sarah’s very FIRST reaction was so completely selfless… She just exclaimed, “Oh, I sure hope he’s ok!!!” Immediately, James said, with admiration and appreciation in his voice, “That’s such a generous response.” I was totally humbled by Sarah’s graciousness and so encouraged to see James notice and take pride in his wife’s kindness. From that interaction alone, I am positive that Sarah and James have a wonderful, joyful marriage ahead. I’m just so happy for them!!!!
Fourth, this is a wedding where both families acted according to the highest ideals of family. They were supportive, loving, and filled to the brim with pride. Each family embraced the other. It was a beautiful sight.
For these reasons, along with many others, we feel so incredibly honored to have spent last Saturday with this couple and we are so excited to share some of our favorite photos of the day with you!!! We hope you enjoy them! Congratulations, Sarah and James!!!
