With specific poses from beautiful inspiration pictures, and these tips below, your couple pictures poses are going to go perfectly. Not only that, but they will also be FUN!

Be prepared for your shoot by:

  • Having some poses already picked out. Save them on your phone to show your photographer OR email them over to him/her in advance.
  • Practice some poses at home to see what feels comfortable for you.
  • Be willing to try something new! You never know what will turn out incredible in front of the camera!
  • Tell your photographer how you’re feeling during the shoot. Their goal is to make you feel good because then you’ll look good! Don’t be afraid to communicate.

And, sometimes it can be hard to feel “romantic” in public, especially with a camera pointed at your face. However, encourage yourself and your spouse to really get into it. Enjoy the fun of acting like you’re newly engaged and can’t keep those hands to yourself. Pretty soon, it won’t be an act! 😉

50+ Adorable Couple Poses for Beautiful Portrait Photography

Avoid disappointment and get the couple poses photos your couple will want and what they are hoping to see in your couple photography photographs.

In the world of couples photography, business is booming. From the Target-themed engagement photoshoot that went viral this summer to the growing popularity of hiring honeymoon photographers, the last year has been full of headlines about fun new trends taking over the industry.

For couples young and old, photoshoots offer the chance to express their individuality and share their stories with the people they love. According to a 2017 survey conducted by The Knot, 38% of couples share photos of their engagement within minutes or hours of popping the question.

At a time where most of our photos end up lost in the cloud or on our phones, a professional photoshoot serves as a timeless, enduring reminder of cherished memories. It’s hardly any wonder that the couples photography genre is thriving. To get the most out of your next photoshoot, the 500px team has put together this guide full of cute couple poses for you to use for your couples or wedding photography. There’s something in here for everyone—from the classic to the cutting-edge.

Preparing for your couples photoshoot poses

One of the key things to do to prepare when doing couples photography, is to create a gallery of photos to serve as a moodboard and to track inspirations and references. This is a helpful tool to communicate the look and style you’re going for with your clients and crew, like hair and makeup artists.

Before the shoot, go over locations and wardrobe with the couple. Have a conversation without your camera first, and show them examples of photos you love, and ask for their feedback. Let their personalities dictate which poses you choose. If they have their own ideas, add them to your shot list.

Get to know your couple and their dynamic before your shoot. Listen for details about how they communicate with each other and what they’re passionate about.

Poses and Inspiration for Couples Photography
Hugging and looking at the camera

This pose is a perfect starting point for any couple’s shoot because it’s both intimate and comfortable. Just ask your models to hug as they normally would, with their faces close together.

Hugging and looking at each other

For this shot, have the couple hug and make eye contact with one another.

Wide-angle

If you’re working with a couple for the first time, it can help to start from a distance before gradually moving closer. Wide-angle shots tap into the “tiny person, big landscape” trend, showcasing both the beauty of the location and the relationship between partners.

Hug close-up

Hugging is a versatile pose, so zoom in to capture all those little details. You don’t even have to include the faces—the embrace alone will help tell the story.

Hug from behind

This classic pose brings the couple closer together, while also providing an opportunity for romance and introspection. It can help to direct the couple a bit here—; maybe they’re looking in the same direction at a beautiful landscape, or one of them is turning back for a kiss.

Looking into the distance

This pose can serve as a powerful metaphor for the couple’s dreams and future together.

Lift-off

Lifts are one of the more versatile couple poses, so let your models have fun with it. Maybe they prefer a Dirty Dancing-style lift, or they go for an ‘over-the-threshold’ moment following a wedding.

Ring shot

If your couple is married or engaged, use their hands and jewelry to share their journey.

From above

Grab a stool or a ladder to photograph an embrace from an unexpected vantage point.

Lying down and facing the camera

You can do this pose at home or in the great outdoors, as long as the couple is comfortable.

Lying down and facing each other

For this pose, your models can lie flat on the floor with their heads turned, or they can prop themselves on their elbows to look into each other’s eyes.

A romantic walk

The changing seasons pose unique opportunities for couples photoshoots, from falling autumn leaves to soft winter snow.

Park bench

While you’re on a romantic walk, give the couple time to rest and relax. They’ll appreciate the break, and you’ll get a chance to capture more candid, spontaneous interactions.

Foreheads together

To underscore that sense of intimacy and trust, have the couple press their foreheads together.

Holding hands

Take wide shots of the couple interacting with the landscape, hand-in-hand, or zoom in on the hands themselves for an intimate yet universal image.

A night on the town

Prior to the shoot, get to know whether they want to do a photoshoot during the day or if they are interested in night photography. If they opt for a night shoot, consider making a “date” of it. Organize an activity the couple enjoys, and capitalize on some of those beautiful artificial lights you’ll have at your disposal.

Stylish details

Your models will have put a lot of thought into what they wear, and hopefully, you will have discussed clothing in advance of the shoot. Take advantage of pretty details like jewelry, hairstyle, shoes, and outfits by honing in on these elements —you’ll capture the couple’s personal aesthetic and vibe.

Whispering

Asking a couple to whisper things in each other’s ears is a great way to break the ice. Depending on their personalities, they can say anything they’d like, from the romantic to the humorous.

A forehead kiss

This sweet kiss helps set a more serious, romantic mood and works well in the middle of a shoot when you’re all comfortable with each other.

A kiss

Kissing is personal and intimate, so whenever possible, let the couple know in advance that you want to include some in your shoot. Don’t fret if the first few kisses are awkward; give your models time to get comfortable in front of the camera, and remember to provide a casual, encouraging environment.

An almost-kiss

Often, the moment just before a kiss makes for an even better photo op than the kiss itself. You can even ask the couple to pause for a second and look at each other before (or after) each kiss.

A ‘secret’ kiss

You don’t have to see the kiss for it to be effective. Use a cute prop like a hat or balloon to hide the couple’s faces while they enjoy a kiss in private.

Cuddling

While moving from one pose to the next, the couple might naturally fall into poses of their own. Take advantage of these organic moments. During breaks in the photoshoot, look out for instances when they’re resting or bonding without worrying about the camera.

Goofing around

Couple photography poses don’t have to be serious to be romantic. Give your models the freedom to move around, make funny faces, and express their playful side on set.

Shallow depth of field

Focus all your attention on the couple by blurring and abstracting the background using a wider aperture.

Framed

Add depth to your images by including details in the foreground. A tree branch, flower blossoms, or architectural detail can serve as a “frame” around your couple, highlighting their connection while also creating visual interest.

Candid moments at home

Beyond a formal portrait session, consider setting up a lifestyle shoot where you can document the couple during their ordinary, everyday routine. For these photos, it’s important to fade into the background and allow the couple to fall into their normal rhythms and patterns, whether they’re joking around or making coffee together.

Blankets

A blanket is a simple but timeless prop, perfect for cozy couple poses in autumn and winter. Because they’re so adaptable and practical, blankets can also help you generate more pose ideas throughout the shoot, whether the couple is snuggled up by the fire or enjoying a picnic outdoors.

A gorgeous view

If you’re shooting at a location that’s meaningful and important to the couple—or if you’ve traveled a long way to find a stunning vista—remember to highlight it in some of your shots.

The ‘selfie’

This isn’t an actual self-portrait since you’ll be taking the photo, but by setting up a fake “selfie,” you’ll give the couple a chance to express themselves and have fun with the process.

Aerial shots

According to a survey from The Knot, 10% of couples married in 2017 opted to have drone photos taken at their weddings, so consider going the extra mile and capturing your traditional poses from an aerial perspective.

Laughing

The best kind of laughter is organic, so keep an eye out for it in between other poses. Sometimes, after kissing, a couple will naturally start cracking up, giving you the perfect chance to seize the moment.

Look down

A soldier’s goodbye, with Bobby the cat, captured by Sam Hood the 1940s, is known as one of the most romantic photos in history—and it doesn’t even show the couple’s faces. By turning your attention to the feet, you can capture gestures and details that you might otherwise miss.

With the family

In between formal couple portraits, invite the rest of the family to join—kids and pets included. They’ll appreciate having these photos with loved ones for years to come.

Something in common

This is where a pre-shoot interview with the couple comes in handy. In addition to relying on the tried-and-true poses and settings you’ve used for other couples, photograph the couple in their element. Focus on interests they have in common. If they’re the outdoorsy type, head to a hiking trail. If they like cooking, organize a food-themed shoot.

Cityscapes

If you’re based in a city, find a hill or rooftop for the couple to explore. Schedule your shoot for the golden hour or blue hour, and photograph them taking in the sights.

Shadows

For a more anonymous (but relatable) photo, turn your attention away from the couple and onto their shadows. When working with shadows, remember to exaggerate and accentuate gestures and poses. During the golden hour, people will cast particularly long, beautiful shadows, so it’s worth taking that into account when planning your shoot.

Golden hour silhouettes

Speaking of the golden hour, sunset is an ideal time to get dramatic, backlit silhouettes.

Leaning

Ask one person to lean their head on their partner’s shoulder or lap. In addition to leaning against each other, your models can lean against something else once they’re on location—like a giant rock or beautiful building—for a casual, laid-back pose.

Dancing

Keep things moving by asking the couple to stay in motion. Whether it’s walking or a simple caress, avoid stiff poses by encouraging your couple to interact with each other and their environment.

Dancing is an easy, straightforward way to get your models moving. Ask about their favorite music before the shoot, and have it on hand on the day-of.

The ‘dip’

A few years ago, a couple made international headlines for recreating that Time’s Square kiss photographed by Alfred Eisenstaedt in 1945, complete with the signature “dip,” in locations around the world. All these years later, it’s still a go-to pose for couples.

Running

Stand apart from the couple, and then have them run towards you. Stay open to surprises; flying hair and unexpected giggles will bring your photos to life. Remember to turn on burst mode to freeze the movement and gestures you might miss otherwise.

Walking away

After the couple moves towards you, capture them walking away from you, backs turned, for a nostalgic, mysterious vibe. You can also ask them to peek back at you for variety.

In the rain

Don’t be afraid to shoot in bad weather. A rainy, gray day can be great for capturing moody, cinematic couple shots. Remember to bring some umbrellas to add pops of color to your photos.

In the Snow

Reflections

Employed by the legendary photographer Elliot Erwitt in the 1950s, this pose has been around for decades, and it never goes out of style. Simply set up a mirror (Erwitt used a car window) or take advantage of reflections in windows and puddles for a unique perspective.

Tattoos

Okay, this one isn’t a “pose” per se, but tattoos are meaningful, so if the couple has them, include some detail shots. This one is especially important if they have matching tattoos or even wedding ring tattoos.

Piggyback

This pose is perfect for getting a couple to relax and have fun with each other. Giving them something to do takes some of the pressure off and often results in genuine laughter.

One person looking at the camera

Used to great effect in the paintings of impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir, this pose features one person looking over the shoulder of another.

The ‘blindfold’

These 50 ideas are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to couple photography poses, so feel free to get creative and add your own. You can also develop several different shot lists for various occasions—couple poses for weddings, engagements, honeymoons, etc.

While the poses are always important, the key ingredient to any photoshoot is the rapport between artist and subject. Create a fun, casual atmosphere on set, and encourage the couple to be themselves. During the shoot, interact with the couple by asking them to recount their first date or how they met. This will give them a chance to connect with each other and take their minds off of the shoot.

Photo LP (best friends). Cartoon drawings in Like with a pencil, the best anime on avu, beautiful, easy to diary, sketchbook

He who is deprived of friendship is lonely in life. When joy and sorrow are divided in half, I want to capture life moments, prolong memories. Looking at the photographs years later, smile with some corners of the lips, mentally returning to such a distant past and at the same time close to the present. After all, the ideas embodied in the photo with a friend give hope, transferring for a moment to a temporary portal and returning to youth.

Best friends - easy pencil drawing

You can quickly create a beautiful drawing with a pencil. However, a regular charcoal pencil is not suitable for fine details.

For this drawing you will need:

  • Faber Castell, Koh-i-Noor professional grade graphite pencil or similar;
  • eraser;
  • good quality smooth thick paper.

If desired, colored pencils can be used to color the desired areas on the finished sketch.

The article contains examples of drawings of best friends.
You can use the photo of your "best friends" as a source of inspiration, and you can also make an extra effort to express your facial features and girlfriends in the picture.

Drawing step by step:

  1. You need to start from the base, that is, from the shape of the face. You can carefully examine the face of a friend and erase the extra lines.
  2. Express the lines of the eyebrows.
  3. Mark the corners of the eyes.
  4. Draw the top lines of the eyes (eyelids).
  5. Finish the eyes. In order to display a resemblance to yourself or a friend, you need to pay attention to the folds above the eyes. It is worth studying the size of the iris and the corners of the eyes, which can be lowered or raised. For the image of a closed eye, a vertical line is drawn down from the eyebrow. This will allow you to understand where the eye should be located. Next, a closed eyelid is depicted, and the vertical line is erased.
  6. Draw eyelashes.
  7. Show the nose. For such a pattern, it is not carefully worked out, so a small line in the form of a right angle will suffice.
  8. The image of the lips begins with two lines drawn from the inner edges of the eyes. They mark the edges of the mouth. A curve of the lips and a small line under it are drawn. It is necessary to connect them, and erase the extra lines.
  9. If your girlfriends have flowing hair, then the ears can be omitted. For such a drawing, it is enough to depict one ear.
  10. Draw the neck and shoulders.
  11. Lines mark the direction of the hair.
  12. Erase extra lines and draw hair.

The "best friends" photo is a good source of beautiful drawing. It remains to mark the torso with lines, draw the collars of the clothes and remove unnecessary details. In the end, you can use colored pencils and color, for example, clothes.

Cartoon style best friends

To draw in a cartoon style, you will need a pencil, an eraser, and colored pencils. You can use different colors: from gray and beige to purple and black. A photo of the "best friends" will also be needed, as it will be used as a base.

Cartoon style features:

  • is quite flexible in use: you can depict a person more realistically or vice versa, less realistic. Drawings in this style can depict people more real with slightly enlarged facial features, or with clearly emphasized features of a person;
  • each individual element of a person (neck, eyes, hands, head shape, lips) can be depicted in any way. The head can be in the shape of a triangle, larger than the body or smaller. There may be less than 5 fingers on the hand. Eyes can be expressed by two points connected or come up with something else;
  • can depict a person's character. For example, small eyes are drawn from under the eyebrows to an evil character, and large and beautiful eyes are drawn to a good character.

Having imagined how the elements of a person will be depicted, you can start drawing. Since this is a cartoon style, there is no need to be afraid to exaggerate certain aspects of the character.

Drawing step by step:

  1. You need to start with the shape of the head.
  2. Draw the eyes, leaving a gap equal to the eye between them.
  3. Mark eyelashes with a thick line to make them large and expressive. A little higher you need to leave a place for the eyebrows.
  4. A small line can be drawn under the eyes. It will create a small wrinkle that will give the face expressiveness.
  5. Show pupils.
  6. Express neat chins and jaws on the characters.
  7. Draw a thin neck.
  8. The nose can be expressed as one side or an oval line. Cartoon style allows you to draw this face element without realistic details. For teenage girls, as a rule, they draw a small nose with a small amount of detail.
  9. You can draw a mouth with a simple line, which will add simplicity and naivety to the character.
  10. Ears can be hidden behind a hairstyle, or a few lines can be added to indicate a simple perspective.
  11. Draw hairstyles. Hair can express character traits, age and emotion of a person. Strive for the perfect hairstyle is not necessary. For cartoon style and girlfriends in adolescence, simple hairstyles will do.

It remains to depict the torso and clothes. Colored pencils can be used to color hair, clothes, add makeup and display a slight blush on the cheeks. Paint the body with a beige pencil.

Best friends in anime technique

The difference between anime is its focus on teenage and adult audiences. This contributes to the high popularity of this Japanese phenomenon in the world. The anime is distinguished by its unusual and characteristic drawing of characters.

One of the features of the anime drawing is the unrealistically large eyes of the characters . This style of drawing was influenced by Western animation. One of the first people to create this style, Osamu Tezuka, was inspired by Mickey Mouse and Bambi.

Anime eyes are not only incredibly large, but also carefully detailed in relation to the rest of the face. Usually the nose and mouth are depicted with simple wavy lines.

For drawing in anime style you will need:

  • HB pencil;
  • eraser;
  • colored pencils;
  • gel pen.

Last, you can highlight the outlines of the picture to make them look more expressive.

Characteristics of the anime drawing style:

  • "from particular to general". Detailing in style plays a major role. Each element of the drawing (lines, poses, signs, clothes, color and gestures) says something. Every detail plays an important role, tells about something;
  • eyes can be drawn as you like, but they must be skillfully and efficiently worked out. The eyes of an anime character are the main source of information about the emotional state of the hero, as well as about his character;
  • drawing starts from the head. A circle is depicted with intersecting lines depending on the direction of the head. The rest of the face is built depending on the style of the artist.

Photos of "best friends" that can be found on the Internet will be a good basis. This will simplify the drawing process for a person who is unfamiliar with anime style or new to drawing.

Draw step by step:

  1. Draw a circle to represent the head.
  2. Display construction lines for eyes, eyebrows, noses and mouths.
  3. Draw body frames.
  4. Draw eyes. The upper arch of the eyelashes curves as far as possible towards the outer corner of the eye. Eyelash arrows can be bent both up and down. A feature of the anime style are large bean-shaped highlights on the pupils. This makes the look wet (the stronger the glare comes on the protein, the more voluminous the eye will become). Be sure to add a shadow to the highlight. With a black helium pen, you can make a stroke around the edge of the iris, which will give the look depth.
  5. Draw a mouth. In anime style, he is depicted with simple lines and shading.
  6. Draw hair. There are several ways. You can first depict the general design of the hair, while dividing it into strands. You can depict individual hairs, modeling a hairstyle, and then highlight the characteristic curls. You can draw strands, immediately highlighting their volume, character and movement.
  7. The nose is depicted with a simple line in the form of an approximately right angle with a small but careful study.

It remains to erase the extra lines, and with a helium pen highlight the contours of the face and body. With colored pencils, you need to give the body life (using a beige pencil). It remains to paint the clothes and the drawing is ready.

What to wear for a photo session for the New Year

And, finally, you need to choose what you actually need to be photographed in. After all, clothes for a New Year's photo shoot are not just a festive outfit, but part of the idea that will be shown, and which will reflect the mood of the whole holiday. So, what clothes are suitable for a New Year's photo shoot?

  1. Traditional outfits that match the symbols of the coming year. No, you don't have to wear a tiger costume. But clothes in blue, blue, black, brown and gray colors will be very useful, as well as white, peach and metallic (both silver and gold). Tiger print - only in small doses, so as not to look vulgar.

  2. Masquerade costumes. For children, all costumes that correspond to the theme of the New Year. Adults can simply put on New Year's hats, “reindeer” round noses, horns, or an outfit of their choice (for example, dress up as a Snow Maiden).

  3. Bright sweaters, knitted hats, mittens, socks and scarves. Such a Scandinavian-style photo shoot will look cozy and memorable at the same time.

  4. Regular home wear. Yes, even simple clothes, if worn in an appropriate setting, can become original for a New Year's photo shoot. For example, if you decide to capture a romantic breakfast in the kitchen on the first day of the New Year.

  5. And beautiful and unusual pajamas are perfect for both children and adults to take pictures against the backdrop of the Christmas tree and its lights.

  6. Streetwear, of course, will be needed for street shooting. Only to designate the mood and occasion - the New Year - additional attributes will be needed.

When choosing clothes for New Year's photography, consider the location and decor of the room where the photoshoot will take place.

Kigurumi BFFs

Kigurumi are animal or cartoon character costumes that cover the entire body. People dressed in kigurumi can be found at various festivals, masquerades. There are also kigurumi pajamas. Unlike suits, they do not cover the entire body.

Drawings of girls in kigurumi are incredibly popular. A portrait of girls dressed in overalls with ears, eyes and mustaches is a funny gift.

For drawing you will need:

  • pencil;
  • eraser;
  • black gel pen;
  • colored pencils.

Cotton overalls are great for sketching. Standing out with bright colors and expressive elements, kigurumi will decorate the girl.

How to draw:

  1. Outline the head and mark the eyes. From this moment the face is drawn. It is important to keep the proportions of the eyes, mouth and nose.
  2. Draw hair. You can add pigtails that will peek out of the pajama hood.

  3. With a few simple lines mark the hood above the bangs.
  4. Outline the body and add the arms to it. It is important to observe the proportions of the body. The jumpsuit can be depicted open, which will add dynamism to the pattern.
  5. Show legs.
  6. Use a black pen to mark the outlines of the drawing.
  7. Erase extra lines with an eraser.

The drawing needs to be colored. A beige pencil is suitable for skin. You can create a contrast between the color of the eyes and eyebrows: paint the eyes light (for example, blue), and the eyebrows dark. You can choose any colors, but it is important that they are combined with each other.

It remains to color the kigurumi. For overalls, the same colors are usually selected as for a person. A good solution would be a combination of light and dark colors for both the girl and the kigurumi. A photo with a friend can be a good basis for a drawing. It remains only to choose the right kigurumi, which best reflects the character of a person.

Naive best friends

Naive art originated in the 19th century. This style was not taken seriously at first. Only after a while he received recognition. Many have seen paintings made in the naive style. At first it seems that they were painted by a child, but in fact they are adults, but not always professional artists.

Naive is a special artistic style, characterized by freshness and immediacy in the depiction of the surrounding world. You do not need to be a professional to paint a picture in this style. Even in the absence of any professional drawing skills, a good portrait can be drawn.

You will need a pencil, eraser and colored pencils for drawing.

Draw step by step:

  1. Draw the head. No need to try to maintain anatomical proportions. The naive style is distinguished by the generalization of forms, the simplicity of technical methods, so such assumptions are not a mistake. Moreover, it is they who distinguish naive from other styles.
  2. Draw eyes or cover them with cucumber rings as shown in the example.
  3. Draw the nose and mouth. No need to strive for realism of the image.
  4. Mark the body and hands. One of the properties of the naive style is a simplified rhythm, so bends and construction are not important in the drawing. The generalized shape of the hands will give the drawing plasticity, which also distinguishes naive from other styles.
  5. Draw clothes.
  6. Draw hair with colored pencils.

It remains to paint the skin with a cream or pale pink pencil. You can add a slight blush to girls with a bright red pencil.

The properties of the naive style also include the brightness of colors and images, a clear expression of contours, and the flatness of the image. Therefore, do not be afraid to use a lot of bright colors. The drawing should turn out to be rich, flat and resemble a postcard.

If you draw a background, then you need to carefully work out its details. Naive is distinguished by the lack of volume, so all elements are equally worked out. Drawing in a naive style does not require shadows and highlights. All elements of the picture are evenly lit and do not necessarily cast shadows.

Naïve discards all limitations, makes no distinction between reality and fantasy. The drawing may contain fabulous animals and fictional characters. Wild animals depicted in the picture do not pose a threat to humans.

The naïve style allows non-professional artists to paint as realistically as they can because of their limited skills. Professionals, on the other hand, diligently try to hide their skills, pretend that they have not studied drawing. However, such works are distinguished by harmony, thoughtfulness of the image, which betrays a professional.

Naive style does not mean that the author cannot draw. A person may not have professional skills and abilities, but an understanding of what he draws and for what will allow him to draw a quality drawing.

Regardless of the style of drawing, pencils must be well sharpened. Otherwise, the drawing will turn out not so beautiful, and may even deteriorate due to a poorly sharpened pencil. It is not necessary to draw a portrait yourself. An alternative is special services that can create a picture effect from any photo.
