As Susie and I were leaving Caren and Aaron’s wedding (and heading into the throng of rowdy Caps fans below!!), we ended up in the elevator with a couple of their guests.
“Great wedding!” they said. We agreed enthusiastically.
“You can tell they really love each other.” he said.
“Absolutely!” we laughed.
We went on to discuss with this pair of strangers (Hello, strangers, if you’re reading this!) those uncomfortable weddings we’ve all attended when you’re not sure what is exactly motivating the couple. NO doubt in Caren and Aaron’s case!!!!! What I didn’t say to these strangers is this:
This was also a really great wedding – one of the best – because of the massive amounts of love and support that surrounded Caren and Aaron on Saturday. It takes a special couple to have enough close friends to form a wedding party of 20!! These were good, loyal friends, genuinely focused on Caren and Aaron and making the day special for them. As Caren’s mom said, Caren and Aaron have a gift for developing and maintaining friendship. I think that must be one of the most precious gifts in the world!! And, as Aaron’s mom said, the love (and faith) surrounding them was “from generation to generation.” We couldn’t exactly tell where family stopped and friends picked up, because even the friendships were so long-lasting and deep, they truly had become like family.
For these reasons most of all, it was such a special day to observe and photograph. We enjoyed every second of it. There were so many moments of joy, laughter, and love, that we have WELL over 1000 photos to deliver to Caren and Aaron eventually, and it took me way too long to cut this blog post down to a length anywhere near reasonable! I only hope it gives you a glimpse of the love we saw on Saturday.
Congratulations Caren, Aaron, and families!!!!
