Being a new person to the art scene having taking up drawing because of the isolation of the virus situation and the fact that it is going to continue, I found The most time consuming task is putting a layout on the canvas especially since I am currently doing a lot of copying and tracings. This app enables me to take a picture of an item on my cell phone, reverse it into a sketch from your program then make a copy which I can enlarge and place onto the canvas. The most difficult part of a painting for me is that process. By using your app I can cut down on a good 60% of the pre-work also in enabling me to be highly accurate.

Really bad

The app does not follow or use any iOS UI controls. On first launch, the app kept crashing and closing. This happens until you get on the wifi. Why do I need wifi to use the app? The image I tested worked poorly. It did not appear as a sketch, as much as it was a filtered version to highlight the dark edges and lighten the other colors. I can achieve this far better in drawing apps. The app is not iPad friendly. It does not rotate for landscape mode. There might be features that are good, but they are not discoverable. The on screen icons show some options, but again, the lack of iOS controls make them had the use. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to close an option panel. Click the X or close box? Nope, you re-click the icon to close the panel. The app also kept prompting me for a review after only a few minutes. Ok, so after a few minutes, I think this is a really bad app and i give you a thumbs down - 1 star review.

Pretty great app

This app is great buuuuut sometimes the buttons don’t click. Maybe it’s just my phone screen though. So I still give it a 5. It also makes me look ugly but that’s just me, un photogenic. Again, not the app. It looks great with other people, and super fun to color the pictures. Cool how you can change the texture too. No bugs so far. Great app, definitely recommend.

You can come here with a girl - that's OK. Then you will sit on the couch with your hand on her shoulder and do what you are supposed to do in such cases.

Freedom and equality reign here, no one will tell you: "You are a loser" or "You have no money." The main thing is that you be "your person", that you be honest in your relations with friends. Here you will feel unhappy and happy. Here is a place where you could spend your life.” (An undated notepad sheet, but definitely from the 70s.) And finally, the same theme in poetic form:

Dedication to Tatiana

Draw me a picture and paint it bright Draw a summer evening The evening is quiet, not hot.

A modest house near the forest The sea splashes nearby Seagulls roam the sand Sails in space.

Draw me a terrace, I'm sitting on the couch, next to a woman in white long dress with flowers.

And she's so sweet, so kind and beautiful! We chat about something, drink cold beer.

Draw, draw, I know you can that she me loves, And that I love her too.

I love like I love I never could. Starts dusk, here comes the sun village.

Draw like fire Burning in the fireplace The stars twinkle softly... Draw on the picture nine0003

All the best friends, And they're on the road. They are going to visit us, I'm waiting for them threshold.

And over the sea floats Quiet blues is very soft. Everybody sorrows are forgotten, all great as before.

draw me a picture And paint it bright Draw me what I am Ran away, Ran away, Escaped from the Zoo...

(Dedicated to the artist Tatyana Apraksina, 1977)

It is no coincidence that I dwell on this issue in such detail. After all, if we discard some romance, posturing, “beauty”, then we can say that by the age of twenty he had identified and formulated for himself a specific life program, which he carried out very consistently. And even if an ideal company of 6-8 people was not organized, he did not have a country apartment, or even a large room, he did not acquire a “stunning carpet”. But he managed to free himself from any addiction (including ours), was content with a minimum of funds, did what he wanted, met with those people who were close to him in spirit or needed in business. And he was extremely indifferent to money, comfort, prestige, the opinion of outsiders. But in our conditions, all this is not at all so simple. It is much easier to be like everyone else and live like everyone else. nine0003

When asked why the group is called “Zoo”, he always laughed it off and answered: “Why not?”, “Is that a bad word?”, “I really love animals”, etc., but in fact there is a big and deep subtext behind this name.

Back in the seventies, when he did not have any band, and he was just starting, at the end of all his things he first signed "Zoo Music", and later - "Zoo". Because at that time he extremely acutely and somehow painfully felt himself not free; he felt as if driven into a cage from which he passionately wanted to escape. And the ban on books, and the persecution of music, and studying at the institute, and routine work, and even the foundations of his native home, were a cage for him. Hence the image of the zoo, hence the name of the group. nine0003

Convincingly and eloquently this is clear from the poem I have quoted. Let's remember the last stanza:

Draw me a picture

And paint it bright,

Draw me what I am

Fled,

Fled,

Ran away from the Zoo…

At one time I really liked this lyrical poem, and I rewrote it for myself. But I didn’t like the ending, and I omitted it during correspondence, and then forgot it. How could I not understand that this is a cry from the heart, this is a real SOS! nine0003

Today I am burned and hurt by his indomitable desire

change your life, break into another orbit, to freedom. But then I repeated to him the common truths that one cannot be free from a sense of duty, from family, from society, that “freedom is a conscious necessity”, etc. etc. How could he then perceive all this ?! And how many times I thought: it would be better if he was naughty in childhood, hooligans, fought, studied poorly, but he would “wander” and by this age become a normal (like everyone else!) Person. nine0003

In an effort to introduce his son to higher education at all costs, his father forced him to "take over" (how archaic it sounds now) and sign the following obligations:

1. Follow the curriculum regularly.

2. Course projects, tests, homework, etc. submit on time.

3. Systematically and constantly take notes on lectures in all subjects (except for the humanities).

4. Pay special attention to the theoretical course. nine0003

5. Minimize absenteeism from lectures for unexcused reasons.

6. Do additional math.

7. Stop smoking tobacco (Eh!).

8. On average, study at home for 2-3 hours daily.

9. Regularly review lecture notes at home.

10. Reduce the time and effort spent on recording and listening to records.

11. Do NOT play in any rock'n'roll bands for the next 2-3 years. nine0003

12. To avoid harmful influences and temptations in every possible way.

13. Apply MAX forces to the victory over slovenliness.

Moreover, the maximalist father offered him a plan for self-improvement and self-education, consisting of more than a hundred points. Mishka chose these thirteen, but I'm sure that in his heart he laughed at all this and was not going to do it ...

Lord, how naive we were, how poorly we understood our son. But you can understand us too - we loved him so much, we felt our responsibility so keenly, we were so worried about everything that happened to him, and so we wanted to help him? nine0003

In Misha's romantic "manifestoes" cited above, a large place is devoted to friendship. He always highly valued honest noble comradely relations, friends played a big and important role in his life. According to my observations, he was very tolerant towards his friends, peaceful and indulgent. And if co-

criticized something, sometimes he did it in a kindly, inoffensive, friendly way. He always believed that every person has the right to his own views, to his way of life and even to mistakes. However, he hated and did not forgive meanness and betrayal, he could stand up for himself and for his principles. He could abruptly break with the person who disappointed him, delete him from his life, but he did not like to discuss and even recall these cases. And he had such cases. But he treated his honest friends with great warmth and love. He characterized many as the noblest, most worthy, and most decent. That's right, in superlatives. These were his favorite epithets when he spoke about people close to him. nine0003

From school friends he kept in touch with Sasha Samorodnitsky. In the classroom, they sat at the same desk, often went to visit each other, walked together, published wall newspapers together. Sasha became an architect, the same profession as his wife Lida. Misha liked to visit their hospitable house, he always talked about these meetings with pleasure.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about Misha's friends and acquaintances from a later time, when he no longer lived with us. But I heard a lot of good, kind and grateful words about the artist Isha, about the musicians Seva Gakkel and Misha Feinstein. Friendship with them began back in the 70s, and they visited our house on Varshavskaya. Of course, he loved his zookeepers and was very friendly with Valery Kirilov. I know that he literally adored Kolya Vasin, extremely appreciated meetings with him, their endless conversations. nine0003

Read "Mike Naumenko. Escape from the Zoo" - Kushnir Alexander Isaakovich - Page 6

“It was a pleasure to sit at Apraksina's house,” recalled Marat Hayrapetyan, sound engineer of Aquarium. - Semi-darkness, paintings and boards on the walls, communication without screaming, hospitable hosts, an atmosphere of love - which, however, led to unexpected shuffling of seemingly long-established couples. It all looked like a strange but addictive lair - especially since the owners did not wander around the Saigons and other places. As a keepsake, I was left with my portrait by Tatyana, in which I look much better than in life. nine0003

Misha Naumenko gradually became one of the energy centers of this party.

“One day in the fall of 1974, Mike buried himself in a piece of paper that lay in front of him on a low table, and began to fill it in thoughtfully with words,” Tatiana Apraksina later said. - Having delved into this occupation, he was more and more isolated from the company, brushing aside remarks and jokes addressed to him. After a while, he called everyone to silence and announced with exaggerated seriousness: “I wrote a song here ... about us all ... if you want, I can. ” He asked for a guitar, looked for a tone, added more nasality to his voice and in his favorite “Dylan” manner, viscous and monotonous, “wailed” not very coherent, but very sincere, like everything Mike did, praises. nine0003

Initially, the composition was called “Apraksin blues”, and later – “Dedication to Tatyana”: “A quiet blues floats over the sea, very gentle / All sorrows are forgotten, everything is beautiful, as before ... / Draw me a picture and color it brightly / Draw me, that I ran away / I ran away, I ran away from the zoo.

Tolik "Rodion" Zavernyaev (collage, left - artist Georgy Taratorkin)

"We had to draw a line between us and this boring world"

Boris Grebenshchikov

No one could have known that Mike's life would soon take a different direction. After returning from the "academy", he met at the institute with an extremely colorful figure, nicknamed "Rodion". This acquaintance became a bifurcation point for Naumenko.

The real name of the keeper of sacred knowledge was Tolik Zavernyaev. Even in high school, he fell in love with "Crime and Punishment" and received the nickname "Rodion" for his resemblance to the actor Georgy Taratorkin from the film of the same name. Tolik-Rodion amazed the imagination of his peers by quoting from memory huge fragments from clever books and, in particular, from the complete works of Lenin. nine0003

“In good faith, I did not study for long,” Rodion assured me afterwards. - Starting from the second semester, I began to skip almost all the lectures - with the light hand of Mike, of course. For example, we saw our professor for the second time at the physics exam... In short, after meeting with Naumenko my life changed. He introduced me to Tanya Apraksina, school friends and music lovers. We even got pooled records: Marc Bolan, Lou Reed, David Bowie. But there was always little money, so we didn’t have many discs.” nine0003

Often the conversations of "intellectuals from rock and roll" dragged on until late at night. And then Rodion, in order not to go home to the other end of the city, stayed overnight with Mike. The next day could look like this: say, Rodion, waking up, found himself on a tiger skin brought by Vasily Grigorievich from a Vietnamese business trip. While the student was adjusting his breathing after the encounter with the fanged maw, Mike had time to fry brown bread for breakfast. Then friends took a dose of Western music and went, for example, to visit Tanya Apraksina. nine0003

“Sometimes I thought about some serious things, but I didn't want to talk about it,” Mike later admitted. “At the age of eighteen, I realized what the meaning of life is. As I remember now, I was passing by Apraksin Dvor and ... just some kind of insight came. Suddenly snorted - and I understood. And I will never tell anyone about it.”

Ever since school, Naumenko dreamed of creating his own rock band and calling it Rains - he intended to perform rhythm and blues in English. Rodion recalled that at the institute, Mike carried with him a notebook with composed texts, from which My Birthday Song, Rain and Maserati Baby lingered in his memory - a kind of dedication to Marc Bolan. The aspiring rock star imagined his concerts on a scale no lower than that of T. Rex, completely ignoring the ideological and financial side of the process. nine0003

Days passed in close fellowship. When Galina Florentievna and Vasily Grigorievich went to work, friends ran away from lectures and drove home to Varshavskaya. There, Mike tested new songs on a friend, accompanying them with a simplified guitar accompaniment. According to Apraksina’s memoirs, “absurdist“ aristocratic ”conversations often took place between Rodion and Mike, in which they ceremoniously addressed each other exclusively as“ you ”and with the proper degree of grandiloquence. For Rodion, this was a natural norm, and Mike savored the sharpness of being under control of the style. nine0003

One day my mother had to listen to her son's "concert" coming from his room. Without waiting for the final, Galina Florentievna entered and with an impenetrable face said: “Son, remember, you don’t have any vocals! Just one cheeky one!" For many years she criticized Mike's vocal style, but one day she resigned herself, accepting that it was useless to fight.

“I told Misha the common truths that one cannot be free from a sense of duty, from family and from society,” Galina Naumenko later regretted. But how could he then perceive all this? Lord, how badly my father and I understood our son!” nine0003

Over time, Naumenko Jr. built up a reliable armor against criticism from his relatives - in the form of the first songs and an impressive collection of lovingly designed tape reels.

“At the institute, we listened not only to rock, but also to a lot of other music,” Rodion assured me. – For example, for my birthday Mike gave me two records: Grieg's Peer Gynt and Stravinsky's Petrushka. That is, we also listened to academic music, but mostly baroque, lute, as well as several works by Vivaldi. Our favorite composer was Stravinsky, especially The Rite of Spring. We also liked Vivaldi's Gloria - as a cultural product of a completely different era. nine0003

Parallel to the so-called study, Rodion managed to make friends with a company of musicians from the Aquarium group. They often hung out at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics or migrated along the same route: Mikhailovsky Castle - Abbey Road Cafe - Saigon. In the legendary cafe on the corner of Vladimirsky and Nevsky prospects, there were Italian coffee machines, and the coffee from them was the best in Leningrad. Every evening, the entire musical-hippie community gathered at the entrance to Saigon: from Volodya Rekshan from the St. Petersburg group and jazz pianist Sergei Kuryokhin to Beatleman Kolya Vasin and photographer Andrey "Willy" Usov. nine0003

“Our life was structured by the city,” explained Anatoly “Rodion” Zavernyaev forty years later. – Cafe Saigon was the main communication line of Nevsky Prospekt, and the central streets played an important role in our walks and plans. White nights and so on… When we “drank all night, walked all night until the morning”, we didn’t walk around Kupchino. For example, at Grebenshchikov's house, an amazingly beautiful view of the Kazan Cathedral opened from the roof of the house.
