Since there may be a few employees who may need to share this printer, a good business printer should be able to print a large number of pages at an affordable cost and without constantly running out of ink. This bulky but well-built laser all-in-one printer has nearly every feature you'd need. It has plenty of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet, making it easy for everyone to access. Its high-resolution scanner has an automatic feeder to scan long, multi-page documents and can perform duplex scanning in a single pass. Although it takes a little longer than most printers to warm up, it can complete large print jobs quickly, as it can push out 29 black or color pages per minute. The toner cartridges yield around 3000 black and 2000 color prints, and you can further increase the yield with XL cartridges.If you need to print posters or photos and want the best quality, you're still better off with an inkjet model, and to that end, we recommend the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850. It's an inkjet all-in-one with a refillable ink tank. A full tank yields around 4900 black and 2500 color pages, making it a great choice for high-volume printing. Plus, the ink bottles are cheap, so your maintenance cost will remain low even if you print a lot.
It prints around 25 black or color pages per minute and has a large 550-sheet input tray capacity. It doesn't have the best color accuracy, but printed photos still look good. Our best budget pick is the Brother HL-L2390DW. It's also an all-in-one monochrome model, but unlike the pick above, it lacks an automatic feeder and Ethernet connectivity. It still prints sharp-looking documents and does so quickly at 32 pages per minute.
The toner cartridge is good for around 1400 prints and is fairly cheap, so you don't need to worry about high maintenance costs. The drum is a separate unit you'll have to spend extra to replace, but you won't need to do it too often as it usually lasts 12,000 prints.If you don't need a scanner, the Brother HL-L2370DW is an even cheaper option. It performs almost identically to the HL-L2390DW, so you get the same print quality and page yield. It prints a little faster at 35 pages per minute and has an Ethernet port, which is great for offices that rely on a wired network connection. Plus, it's more compact, meaning it'll fit easily into small offices.

Bright color pages, duplex and Wi-Fi, noisy and slow, unintuitive interface
Competitively priced, Ricoh has provided this color laser printer with all the essential features, including Wi-Fi connectivity, automatic two-sided printing, and important security features such as PIN identification when a print job is received.
It looks a bit dated with that tiny display, and the laser's print speeds are somewhat slow, but print quality remains strong when it comes to both mono and color pages.

How to buy a business printer
Multifunctional features can be found in all directions and at any price. Key features start with a USB key and card reader for PC-free printing, moving on to scanner and copier functions. What's more, automatic document feeders (ADFs) can process 50 copies at a time and produce booklets, including duplex printing, stapling and folding. Often the basic functions of the ADF are suitable for most mid-sized offices.
In the past there was a noticeable difference in cost per page (CPP) between lasers and inkjet printers, but in recent years inkjet printers have been able to lower their prices in order to compete. In any case, it is important that you carefully evaluate the CPP of each device.
Manufacturers measure toner or cartridge usage according to ISO industry standard.
In this way, you can safely estimate the total cost of replacing all cartridges or toners divided by the print yield for all potential models.
The total amount of prints you are about to make must also be taken into account. Devices often list a maximum monthly "duty cycle" and recommended figures. This is the total number of prints it expects to process per month. If possible, evaluate the number of prints per person in the office and make sure the device is capable of meeting your current and future requirements.
Finally, in the past, color, especially for laser printers, required a premium, which is not so much these days. However, these models are still more expensive due to the extra materials needed to make the toners and printers. The difference is still big enough that if you don't need a regular color, you should go for a mono model, perhaps using cheaper inkjet printing or even out-of-home printing if needed from time to time.
