On the cover of the famous Nevermind album, four-month-old Spencer is in the pool, underwater, as if trying to grab a dollar bill on a fishing hook.
Previously, Spencer Alden, judging by his interview, successfully exploited this fame. Now he claims that his parents did not give written consent to the use of this photo, and accuses those involved of involving him in child pornography.

Pictures of children without overt sexual connotations are not usually considered child pornography in the US, but Elden's lawyer Robert Lewis claims that the dollar bill photomontage makes his client look like a sex worker in the photo.
Spencer Elden is seeking $150,000 from each of the 15 defendants. Among them are two living Nirvana musicians Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, Kurt Cobain's widow Courtney Love and photographer Kirk Weddle. nine0005
Representatives of the band and the record company that released the album have not yet commented on the lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleges that because of this photograph, spread around the world, Spencer Elden's name and identity are "forever linked to the commercial sexual exploitation he experienced as a child." This, according to Elden, leaves him in a state of "permanent extreme emotional distress", which is why he needs medical and psychological help.
Elden used to have a slightly different view of this fame. Three times - on the 10th, 20th and 25th anniversary of Nevermind - he was in "remakes" of that photograph. True, always in swimming trunks. nine0005

In an interview with The Guardian six years ago, he said that the photo had always opened doors for him and had a positive impact on his life.
"I'm 23 now, I'm an artist, and this story gave me the opportunity to work with [famous street artist] Shepard Fairey for five years. It was an amazing experience. He's a great music connoisseur when he heard that I was that kid Nirvana, he thought it was very cool," Spencer Elden said at the time. nine0005
On the other hand, sometimes Elden talked about the negative aspects of his fame.
"It's pretty hard - you're kind of famous for nothing," he told Time magazine in 2016. "It's hard not to get upset when you hear all the money going around. And I go to baseball and I'm like, man, that's it, must have seen your penis as a child. It feels like some of my human rights have just been canceled."
